Four years ago today my youngest petunia was born. My sister-in-law celebrated New Years Eve with us in the hospital and brought me sushi and booze, the two things I missed most while I was pregs. I wrecked some rolls and nursed some rose while ringing in 2012 with the sweetest little NYEve date in the world. It’s hard not to imagine all the wonderful things you want to do with your child during those first few days of life. One of my hopes has always been to really travel with my kids, once they became old enough to appreciate the world (fam therapist says the magic age is ten, but I’m aiming younger). When Gemma was born, I made a bespoke Anya Hindmarch “Be a Bag” to use as my diaper bag, and the designer’s travel vanity, which neatly stashes jewelry and other small accessories, symbolizes the trips I want to take the girls on in the future. Happy birthday, Cleo Isabel, my constant little rainbow.
