I’m not exactly known for my laid back attitude about food. I’ve been macrobiotic, paleo, and have dipped my toe in the alkaline waters. Just recently I decided to go low inflammatory, which is totally a thing. But when it comes to my kids, I’m forced to be more flexible because one thing I don’t subscribe to is restriction. However if and when I can create trickery, I will do it. For Rafi’s sixth birthday last week I presented her with Sweet Laurel Bakery’s insanely beautiful (organic, grain-free, dairy-free, sugar-free) layer cake and noone was the wiser. Not only was it scarfed in minutes by a handful of kindergarteners, but my diabetic father-in-law along with my completely mental husband were able to partake. And the best part? Not one person made fun of me.
